The Swiss Network with Ukraine (SNU) understands reconstruction not only as the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure, but also as an opportunity to rethink urban development, material economies, and models of international cooperation.
Learning Together frames reconstruction as a collaborative process that moves from emergency response towards long-term transformation, focused on resilience, sustainability, and social cohesion. The conference demonstrates that Ukraine’s reconstruction is not a one-way transfer of expertise, technology, or aid. Instead, in this exchange, Ukraine and Switzerland each have valuable lessons to share, when addressing issues such as institutional continuity and equitable development.
The conference links concrete reconstruction initiatives to broader structural questions by bringing together researchers, policymakers, and professionals from Ukraine and Switzerland. Panels explore how technological and social innovation change the response to the challenges posed by the ongoing war, particularly in affordable housing, resilient urbanism, food systems, digital infrastructure, circular construction, and damage assessment.
The Swiss Network with Ukraine was established in 2022 as an association of academics and professionals in Switzerland who support the just and sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine. The conference Learning Together, taking place on 10 June 2026 at the Hönggerberg campus of ETH Zürich, serves as a forum for Swiss and Ukrainian actors and offers insight into ongoing transnational efforts to rebuild Ukraine and presents Swiss-Ukrainian projects already making an impact on the ground.
